This Cookies Policy explains how College Deadline uses cookies and similar technologies. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.

What Cookies Are

Cookies are small text files a website stores on your device. They let a site remember things between page loads and between visits — that a form is half-filled, for example, or that you have already been counted as a visitor today.

Similar technologies, such as local storage, do much the same job and are covered by this policy too.

Cookies We Use

Strictly necessary

These are required for the site to work. You cannot turn them off through our site, and disabling them in your browser will break forms and sign-in.

• Session cookies. Keep your session consistent as you move between pages.
• Form state. Preserve what you have entered in a multi-step form, so a refresh or a lost connection does not discard your answers.
• Security and abuse prevention. Support rate limiting on form submissions and help us detect automated abuse.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used in aggregate — which pages people visit, how they arrived, and where they run into trouble. This is enabled through a site setting and may not be active at all times.

Analytics cookies help us decide what to build and fix. They are not used to identify you personally, and we do not combine analytics data with the information you submit through our forms to build a profile of you.

Advertising

We do not use advertising cookies. We do not run advertising cookies, cross-site tracking pixels, or retargeting technologies, and we do not share information with advertising networks. Our users are largely minors planning their education, and we have chosen not to build that kind of tracking into this product.

Third-Party Cookies

Google Analytics is the only third party that sets cookies through our site, and only where analytics is enabled. Google’s handling of that data is governed by Google’s own privacy policy.

Pages that embed third-party content, such as a video, may allow that provider to set cookies. Where we add such content we will note it.

Managing Cookies

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Every major browser lets you see the cookies stored, delete them, and block new ones — look under privacy or security settings.

To opt out of Google Analytics specifically, Google publishes a browser add-on that prevents its analytics from collecting your data on any site.

Blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent our forms from working. That is not a dark pattern, it is a genuine dependency: without them we cannot keep your place in a multi-step form or protect submissions from abuse.

Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

Browsers send “Do Not Track” and Global Privacy Control signals to indicate a preference not to be tracked. There is no common industry standard for how sites should respond to Do Not Track, and we do not currently respond to it.

This matters less here than it does elsewhere: we do not sell or share personal information for advertising, and we do not run cross-site tracking, so the practices these signals are designed to stop are practices we do not engage in.

We do not currently display a cookie consent banner. If we introduce advertising technologies, expand into markets that require consent before setting analytics cookies, or otherwise change our practices, we will add consent controls and update this policy first.

Changes to This Policy

We will update this policy when our use of cookies changes. The effective date above shows when the current version took effect.
