Our Commitment
College Deadline is building a college-planning platform for every student, including students with disabilities. Accessibility is one of our stated company values and one of the principles we hold our product to: the platform should use understandable language, intuitive navigation, responsive design, and accessible interfaces.
A student who cannot use our tools cannot benefit from them. We would rather ship a feature late than ship one that excludes people.
Conformance Status
We are working toward conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA.
We do not claim full conformance today. The platform is in active development and has not completed a formal accessibility audit. Stating a target we are working toward is honest; claiming a certification we do not hold would not be.
Measures We Take
Accessibility is built into how we work, not checked at the end:
- Our design process includes an accessibility review before a design is approved for development
- Our quality assurance process includes accessibility checks alongside functional, browser, and performance testing
- We build on a shared design system, so an accessibility fix to a component reaches every screen that uses it
- We test across mobile and desktop and across browsers
- Accessibility is part of the requirements we write for a feature, not a later addition
Known Limitations
We are aware of areas that need work:
- Some parts of the site have not yet been tested with screen readers
- Third-party content we embed or link to, including college and university websites, is outside our control and may not be accessible
- Data-heavy interfaces such as school comparison tables are still being designed, and their accessibility is not yet validated
- We have not yet completed a formal audit against WCAG 2.1 Level AA
We publish this list rather than omitting it. If you hit a barrier that is not described here, we want to know.
Feedback and Contact
If you encounter an accessibility barrier on our site, please tell us. Describe the page, what you were trying to do, and the assistive technology and browser you were using, if you know them.
